RiNo’s Rhino Naming Contest

Source: Golub & Company
On May 30th, Golub & Company and FORMATIV created a “Name that Rhino” contest for the statue being erected in RiNo neighborhood.
“We’re so excited to invite the community to be part of this story and help us give this iconic rhino a name that reflects the character and creativity of Denver,” said Laura Newman, Vice President of Investment & Development at Golub & Company, in a press release. “Our goal with both the rhino and the public realm was to create a true sense of place here at Denargo Market, and we hope this becomes a beloved landmark for neighbors, families and visitors.”
The preliminary round of voting left a group of five names, including:
Rhingo
Rosey
Roxy
Rusty
Spike
This is the list of names that the public can vote on to name the 30-foot-tall and 22,000-pound, climbable statue.
The names can be voted on until June 11.

CO Music Hall of Fame moving
That’s right the Colorado Music Hall of Fame is moving from it’s current location at Red Rocks to the Convention Center.
Colorado Music Hall of Fame said a larger, upgraded, interactive exhibit space is being planned for the future in a different area of the convention center.
Colorado Music Hall of Fame’s exhibits are free and open during Colorado Convention Center events and for Bellco Theatre performances.
“We are thrilled to bring the stories and legacies of Colorado's music legends to the heart of downtown Denver,” said Karen Radman, executive director of Colorado Music Hall of Fame. “This new home at the Colorado Convention Center places The Hall in the core of our capitol city’s artistic and civic life, allowing us to reach a broader audience and expand our programming.”

Garden Mythbusters: Denver Style
It’s garden season and that means people are anxious to get outdoors, plant your vegetables, herbs, flowers and much more.
Are you familiar with the more drought tolerant plants? These can help save you money as well as look more natural in our Colorado climate.
Ross Shrigley from Plant Select at CSU busted some of the common myths you may or may not know about drought tolerant plants in CO.
Myth 1: Does water-wise mean a plant is going to look weedy or like it belongs in a desert?
Shrigley said that's a big myth! Many lush and beautiful landscape plants use very little water. He said there are water-wise plants with big flowers and lots of color, but these plants may be different than what people know from other parts of the country.
Myth 2: When you plant water-wise plants, can you just set them and forget them?
No, that’s another myth! Like any plant, water-wise plants need care to help them get established. Shrigley said these plants need consistent watering the first month or two, especially if it’s warm outside. Once their roots get established, you can back off on the watering.
Myth 3: Water-wise plants aren’t always as showy at the garden center. Does this mean they’re going to be less showy in your garden?
Shrigley said it is true that they don’t always look as good in their pots at the store, but don’t let that fool you! He said they can look amazing in a landscape. If you want to see what a plant will look like when it’s full-grown, you can look at the plant tag to see the picture of the mature plant.

Save A Life @ Colorado Puppy Rescue
Meet Cinnamon — She wants to be everywhere you are! She is happiest when she is snuggling on the couch with you. Just be prepared to have a big chew toy (variety helps) so that when she gets her energy out, she’s ready to struggle.
I am very playful and love toys. I also enjoy playing outside. I love squeaky toys. I have a big personality and love to chew on them with assistance holding them.
She is such a sweet girl. She has the cutest face and she knows it! She will have you wrapped around her tiny little paws the minute you see her.
She has the cutest little everything honestly! She loves to move around a lot so be careful when walking!
She is full of kisses and she just loves when you hold her and carry her around as you are doing whatever you are up to.

Rockies — Worst Record in MLB History
We love you Rockies, or we use to…
Last season the Chicago White Sox were the worst team in MLB history.
Now, less than a year later, here come the Colorado Rockies who are threatening to obliterate the White Sox’s modern record of 121 losses.
The Rockies became the third-quickest team to reach 50 losses behind only the 1884 Kansas City Unions and 1876 Cincinnati Red Stockings. They have already had four eight-game losing streaks. They have been swept 10 times and shut out eight times.
Time to Sell Monforts?? The fans think so..
